Yeosu or Yeosu City(여수시, 麗水市, literally  "peaceful water city") is the largest city in Jeollanam-do(Jeollanam province), South Korea. which was founded in 1949, and Yeocheon City, founded in 1986, were merged into a new city in 1998.
It's geographical location is 34-44N, 127-44E

Yeosu has three different City Halls. On April 1, 1998, the cities of Yeosu and Yeocheon, along with Yeocheon Country merged to from the unified city of Yeosu. As of October 14, 2007 plans are being set up and a referendum is being planned for a merging of the cities of Yeosu.

and in 2004 it had a population of in the extreme southeastern portion of the province and enjoys a moderate climate with an average yearly temperature of 13.7℃.
Yeosu is bordered by Sunchon city to the north, and is otherwise surrounded by Suncheon Bay.

Yeosu is known for its beaches and seafood, Other notable cultural sports include Hyangiram temple and the city's symbol, Dolsan Bridge.

Today(November 27, 2007) Yeosu won its bid to host the May 12-October 12 2012 Expo. This Expo will be Korea's second, following Daejeon's 1993 Fair.  =:)

   @ Jinnam Street(or Jungang-dong) ☞ about one block in front of Jinnamgwan is a shopping area in appearance to Myeong-dong in Seoul or Chungjangno in Gwangju, although on a much smaller scale. There are many boutiques selling Western and Korean brands of clothing, shoes, and jewelry

   @ E-Mart ☞ Yeosu has one E-Mart, located across the street for the Yeosu Bus Terminal. There is a McDonald's inside.

   @ Lotte Mart ☞ There are two Lotte Mart locations in Yeosu, Lotte Mart(Yeosu) in Guk-dong, and Lotte Mart(Yeoucheon) in Seonwon-dong.
